Public engagement with the sciences; an emerging strategy from the UK
Sir Roland Jackson, British Science Association
The UK government held a national consultation on Science and Society in 2008. Five expert groups were then set up in 2009 by the Minister for Science and Innovation to develop action plans, covering: Science and Media, Science and Learning, Science and Careers, Science and Trust, and Science for All. Roland Jackson, chair of the Science for All Group, will describe the outcomes of this initiative and the broader questions being raised as the plan of the Science for All Group is taken forward.
